You might have noticed the quest marker that appears when you enter Monongah Mine to fight Earle for the first time. It simply tells you to take a look around. Not much to go off of. After speaking to Maggie, the quest becomes clear. She mentions that a powerful enough explosion could open up Monongah Mine so you can search for Earle.Monongah Mine being nuked is a great time to farm cobalt flux. Suggestion. There are loads of plants that give cobalt flux right by the mine entrance and lots more if you explore around it. To the east of the mine and especially to the south of it I found quite a bit. I found a holotape near the beginning of the mine that seemed to fufill this, you can go back to whats her name and give her it and she'll thank you for going back in to find more of what her father left behind for her. It's on a barrel on the left as you walk in. I think you can only get it a the start/end of the event. Pick up the holotape on the barrel just inside the mine entrance (before you run down the slope), kill Earle and then once you're out again go turn in the quest at Foundation. You'll get full credit and quest completion without even launching the nuke yourself.
